Yoga has the power to transform your mind and body. In this post, I’m sharing how it has changed my life and why I believe it’s a practice everyone should try.
There are so many amazing benefits to incorporating yoga into your life today.
When I first started practising yoga a few years ago, I quickly began noticing changes. I became more flexible, experienced less pain, and felt so much more clear-headed. Yoga energizes you, helps improve your posture, and makes you feel taller and more confident in your body. My journey with yoga has truly been incredible, and I would love to attend a yoga retreat one day in the near future.
There are many different styles of yoga. In this post, I’m mainly referring to movement-based practices such as hot yoga, traditional classes that most people are familiar with, and Kundalini yoga. You may not have heard much about Kundalini yoga before, but it is by far my favourite style. It focuses on awakening the Kundalini energy within us and is often associated with balancing the chakras.
When I practice Kundalini yoga, I can feel it throughout my entire body. Sometimes my body will shake as it releases and resets, and I can feel the energy rising within me. After each session, I always feel completely different than when I started. It feels like I’ve let go of anything I was holding onto, and I’m left with a deep sense of clarity about who I am and what I need. To me, this practice feels transformative, and I highly recommend giving it a try.
Starting your yoga journey is easier with the right essentials—like a yoga mat that gives you support and comfort.

The Benefits of Yoga for Your Mind and Body
Let’s dive into some of the ways yoga can truly change your life. As we get older, life naturally becomes more demanding. Responsibilities add up, and sometimes the stress and anxiety can feel overwhelming. That’s why taking time to step onto your mat and recharge is so important. When you settle into a pose and breathe deeply, you start to release built-up tension, and your worries begin to fade away.
All you really need is a yoga mat and a little space to move — it doesn’t have to be complicated. Just showing up for yourself makes all the difference.
To enhance your practice, a comfortable yoga block can help you maintain poses safely and deepen stretches.
Yoga doesn’t just support your mental well-being — it’s also incredible for your physical health. Most people are drawn to yoga for this reason, whether it’s to tone their body, build strength, or support weight loss — and it absolutely helps with all of that. As you move through each pose, you’re stretching and strengthening your muscles in a gentle but effective way.
Adding resistance bands to your routine is a simple way to build strength and improve flexibility alongside your yoga practice.
One of the most beautiful parts of yoga is how it connects your mind and body. By syncing your breath with your movements, you create a sense of inner calm and balance. This connection is what makes yoga so deeply relaxing. It brings a feeling of peace both during and after your practice. I promise, you will never regret taking the time for a yoga session.
Final Thoughts
One of the things that has supported me most in staying consistent with my practice is creating small moments of intention beyond the mat. Whether it’s taking a few deep breaths in the morning or grounding myself with a simple affirmation, these little rituals add up. That’s actually why I created my Petals of Becoming Affirmation Cards — something gentle to return to when you want to feel centered, supported, and connected to yourself throughout the day.
I truly hope this post inspires you to give yoga a try if you haven’t already. Even if you’re just starting out, remember that every small step counts. Yoga is not about being perfect or reaching a certain level — it’s about showing up for yourself and growing at your own pace.
For me, yoga is something I will always come back to. I love how I feel after each session, and I enjoy seeing my progress as I improve in different poses. There’s something so rewarding about noticing your own strength and flexibility develop over time. It’s a beautiful reminder of what consistency can do.
I’ve been on and off with my practice at times, and I can definitely feel the difference when I step away for too long. My body starts to feel tighter, especially when stress builds up. But that’s okay — it’s never about being hard on yourself. It’s about gently returning to your mat, one day at a time.
Yoga isn’t about comparing yourself to anyone else. I may not be at the “Instagram yogi” level, but I’m perfectly happy with my own journey. What matters most is how it makes you feel.
